Well...here's the end product. My 4th digit was about 3/8" shorter than it was supposed to due to the fracture sliding back. The concern with casting was it would have probably healed this way, and affected my ability to open close the hand there. Worse, after 6 weeks in a cast it maybe would not even be reconnected with a gap in the bone. Now it's stable. He told me to be moving my fingers and be using it as I can tolerate in a couple of days.
